Fiat offers free track training for 124 Spider Abarth, 500 Abarth buyers
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has launched a new Fiat Track Experience, offering free professional driving instruction for 124 Spider Abarth and 500 Abarth buyers.
The company has partnered with the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Phoenix, Arizona, where the Abarth-tuned duo will be available for several educational programs.
The Fiat Trackside experience starts with classroom instruction before putting participants behind the wheel for hot laps and instructor-led skid, slalom, autocross and team rallycross activities. All are packed into a single free day, allowing drivers to refine their skills with either the 124 Spider Abarth or 500 Abarth.
Attendees can choose to stay for a second day with a Road Rally theme, shifting from the track to the open road. Drivers will traverse hundreds of miles across scenic Arizona highways, with stops for coffee and lunch.
“The Fiat 124 Spider Abarth and 500 Abarth join the ranks of the high-performance Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats and Viper models that are already part of Bondurant’s fleet, adding to the ‘fun-to-drive’ factor and bringing the Abarth name to a new group of performance enthusiasts,” said FCA car brands head Tim Kuniskis.
The program could help promote the brand as it struggles to gain momentum in the US market. With just one entry in the fast-growing crossover segment, Fiat sales are down by 16 percent in the first seven months of the year.
