FCA issues small-batch recall to prevent Jeep suspension failures

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has issued a small-batch recall for the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango.

SUVs produced during an eight-day period earlier this month may have been outfitted with suspension components that were not properly heat treated.

“This condition, which was not apparent during the assembly process, could lead to component breakage, rear-end instability and/or reduced braking power,” the company said in a statement.

Approximately 7,690 vehicles are included in the recall, though FCA claims just 65 are already in US customer hands. The company promises to call those owners to arrange on-site vehicle inspections, rather than asking customers to drive a defective vehicle to a service center.

FCA suggests the supplier’s mistake was spotted quickly and immediately resolved, and the issue has not been associated with any accidents or injuries.
