It’s time for another drag race Saturday. This time, you’ve got all the Hemi power you could possibly ask for in one sitting. A Dodge Viper ACR, and a Dodge Challenger Hellcat with, what we can only assume, are some healthy modifications.
With a 645-horsepower V10, the Viper ACR is actually the least powerful of the two. But at only 3,374 pounds, it’s over 1,000 pounds lighter than the hefty Hellcat (4,449 pounds).
The Hellcat, on the other hand, has 707 horsepower from a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, not to mention a few “bolt ons”, though, it doesn’t specify exactly what those may be. Even though it is heavier, that extra horsepower and a few mods could be the defining factor in this race between iconic Detroit muscle.
The Challenger Hellcat takes it easily. That extra weight didn’t slow down the Challenger one bit (and the Viper driver didn’t help either). Even though the Challenger might have been able to take the Viper on the strip, it’d be a much different story on a road course.
