Viper ACR Corvette Z06 Head2head
For the enthusiast who prefers performance of American persuasion, things are pretty good right now. Two of the highest performance sports cars for sale right now, the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR, both fly the red, white, and blue. On the newest episode of Head 2 Head, hosts Jonny Lieberman and Jason Cammisa put in some quality lap time with the best the U.S. has to offer to determine which one carries the performance flag the best. In traditional Head 2 Head fashion, the hosts begin by putting the two cars through their paces on the test track. The numbers begin to stack up, with the ‘Vette taking the lead in straight-line performance and around the figure-eight. But the Viper claims a higher trap speed in the quarter mile and a 60-0 mph stopping distance in an astonishing 87 feet. On the racetrack, however, things start to separate. The Viper may be down 10 horsepower and 50 lb-ft of torque, but the specialized Bilstein suspension, barely-legal R-compound rubber, and insane aero means the Viper has enough hardware to whip the Z06 around Laguna Seca by a whopping three seconds. On road, the two four-wheeled warriors are opposite ends of the spectrum. The two hosts find that, while the C7 Z06 is more livable, the Corvette can’t seem to put the power down as effectively as the Viper. The Viper, on the other hand, was nearly unusable on the street, with a punishing interior and an overly-loud exhaust.
