Chrysler Is Going To Reveal Something At Detroit That Absolutely Needs To Be A Hit

Otherwise, well, let’s not go there just yet.

Detroit is THE auto show for American carmakers. There’s a reason why last year Ford chose to reveal its all-new GT alongside the Shelby GT350R and next- gen SVT Raptor here. But we have a gut feeling this is going to be Chrysler’s year, or rather FCA’s. For example, there’s a decent possibility that a successor, in concept form, to the Challenger could be unveiled. A new Barracuda? Perhaps, but what we know for sure now is that Chrysler will unveil its completely redesigned Town & Country minivan.

From what we understand, it’ll be offered with both a conventional gasoline engine as well a plug-in hybrid variant. What we also know is that there won’t be a new Grand Caravan; it’s a goner. However, The Detroit Free Press claims that the current Grand Caravan won’t be discontinued right away. Reason being is that for a sticker price of just under $22,000, it still remains a hell of a bargain for a lot of families, whereas the new Town & Country will carry a base price closer to $30k. We’ll have complete coverage of what Chrysler and Dodge have planned next month from the showroom floor of Detroit’s Cobo Hall.
