A Week With the Dodge Viper ACR: By the Numbers

When January of 2017 rolls around, the Dodge Viper will no longer be in production. I know, it’s a shame. But before it does go the way of the dodo, at least Dodge went ahead and gave the world the no-nonsense ACR we all had been longing for.

The 2016 Viper ACR is not only best Viper ever, but one of the best production cars ever. The fact that the ACR is street legal—that anyone with a valid drivers license and enough money can purchase one—seriously boggles the mind. It’s going on two weeks since I drove an ACR all through California, and I’m still trying to figure out how I didn’t need some special permit.

To help get my thoughts in order so that I might write a cohesive story, instead of just repeatedly saying “it’s so good, it’s so fast, it’s so loud,” I thought, why not take a look at the car from a numerical standpoint. Numbers don’t lie, they’re a constant, and often times they’re the most efficient way to tell a story. So with that in mind, here is the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR, by the numbers.


$132,990 – Total price as tested.

$45,095 – Amount in dollars between a base Viper and the ACR I drove.

$376.39 – Amount spent on 91 octane fuel during one week of driving.

107.47 – Gallons of fuel purchased over the course of the week.
