2016 Ram Heavy Duty pickup lineup unveiled

Ram has introduced the 2016 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups.

While the models look virtually identical to their predecessors, they feature a number of changes that promise to keep them ahead of rivals from Ford and GM.

First and foremost, the 6.7-liter Cummins six-cylinder diesel engine has been tuned to produce up to 385 bhp (287 kW) and 900 lb-ft (1218 Nm) of torque – an increase of 35 lb-ft (47 Nm).

The Ram 3500 also gains a stronger differential case and a 16 bolt rear axle ring gear on models equipped with the 11.8-inch axle.  Thanks to these modifications, the maximum towing capacity climbs by 1,210 lbs (548.8 kg) to a class-leading 31,210 lbs (14156.6 kg).

Besides the performance tweaks, there’s a new Laramie Limited variant which features a revised grille and prominent RAM lettering on the tailgate.  The model also features black leather seats, Black Argento wood trim and a new center console with a cell phone and tablet holder as well as a tambour wood sliding door.  The model also has accent stitching, satin chrome accents and Berber carpet inserts.

The Ram 2500 and 3500 will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2015 and pricing starts at $31,485.
