At this weekend’s Woodward Dream Cruise in Michigan, Dodge will reveal a crazy new paint color for the 2016 Dodge Charger sedan and 2016 Dodge Challenger coupe. Called Plum Crazy, the limited-run color choice has been offered several times before on Dodge performance cars and returns for a brief stint on the 2016 models. Plum Crazy paint will be offered on all versions of the 2016 Dodge Charger and 2016 Dodge Challenger, including the 707-hp Hellcat models. Production starts in November, and buyers can order a Plum Crazy starting in October through the end of this year.

“Powerful muscle cars painted in impactful colors make Woodward Dream Cruise the perfect setting for Dodge to debut the newest generation Challenger and Charger models in Plum Crazy,” Dodge president and CEO Tim Kuniskis said in a statement. Plum Crazy has been offered occasionally on Dodge vehicles since 1970. In recent times, the Dodge Charger offered Plum Crazy paint in 2007, 2013, and 2014, while the Challenger offered Plum Crazy in 2010, 2013, and 2014. Other wild paint colors offered in recent years include Go ManGo on the 2006 Charger, Furious Fuchsia on the 2010 Challenger, and Header Orange on the 2014 Challenger. Dodge notes that Charger and Challenger models painted in the company’s limited-run colors are actually rather collectible, as only 11 percent of all Dodge Chargers and Challengers built since 2006 have been offered with the special paint schemes. In other words, Plum Crazy cars could conceivably command high prices at auction sometime in the future.
